I have also completed accredited training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Clinical Supervision, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Standard Training Part 1 and certificated training in Bereavement Counselling.

Psychology Matters

In January 2017, I started my undergraduate Psychology Honours degree with The Open University and ultimately a Practitioner Psychologist route recognised by The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) / accredited by The British Psychological Society for Chartered Psychologist. I completed my professional doctorate (D.Psych) in Counselling Psychology in May 2025. 

Independently, I have participated in The Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on Diabetes, The Scottish Parliament Cross-Party Group on Mental Health and held a Public Appointment to the Mobility and Access Committee Scotland.

Retired Academic. Previously Associate Lecturer in Science at The Open University (UK), Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Science at The University of Queensland (Australia) and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Science at the University of Stirling (Scotland). Former joint Academic Journal Editor of Sociological Research Online for Sage Publications Ltd and British Sociological Association. Fellow of AdvanceHE and MA in Online and Distance Education from The Open University. Doctorate (PhD) from University of Glasgow (Scotland). My first ever co-authored academic paper was published in the inaugural issue of the international Journal of Health Psychology. First degree BAEcon (Hons) from University of Manchester (England), where I was introduced to psychology.
